Can a expensive soccer shoe make you play better?

I always see everyone asking about soccer shoes and which ones are the best ect... Why do so many people ask this question do the shoes really make any difference? If I wear a 20 dollar shoe will I play any worse then if I was wearing a 200 dollar shoe? Does the shoe you wear effect your playing in any way or is it just a way that the manifactures have marketed to us? Do the shoes actually effect the abitity to play is what I want to know

1. Can an expensive watch make you tell time better?

>>> Some of the best soccer players started out wearing NO SHOES at all. Better shoes may offer better support etc, but they will not allow you to become better!

2. nooooooo!!!!!

3. Shoes do make a huge difference, but only to a certain degree.

Shoes are all designed differently, but price doesn't necessarily have to do with styling. A $20 shoe might just be a generic shoe that has poor structure, poor arch support, and poor heal support, and you may be more prone to getting injuries wearing these shoes such as rolling your ankle, or Achilles' tendonitis. Additionally, a more expensive shoe will be designed better to aid you in your running dynamics, and can actually help you run faster and get less tired from the same actions as you would not have to compensate as much with your body.

A $200 shoe is probably overkill, but a $20 shoe is going to give you problems if it doesn't fall apart first. Go for a good shoe in the mid-range that feels fast, comfortable, and supportive.

4. Most coaches say that the shoe that you wear doesn't matter at all. It is the skills that you have that matters. But, expensive shoes can increase your performance; this is definitely true. Truth is that it only increases your performance by 7-15% if you're at your best. Even if you have the best shoes in the world, and you don't show your best performance then what's the use of paying for those shoes? My suggestion though is that don't buy too cheap shoes. Choose those priced over at least $40, they last longer and at least keep you comfortable.

When the new adidas and nike shoes were on sale, I was crazy to try those. First i bought the Nike Mercurial Vapor IV. It actually helped me sprint better a little bit. When I bought the Nike T90's, it wasn't different from any other shoe. The only difference was that the material on the sweet part of the shoe created more friction to help me create more spins while kicking. The rubber area also creates a little more bounceback effect for the ball to go faster. All that I can conclude is that expensive shoes only increase performance a little bit, but it definitely gives you confidence! ;-)

5. no-in my personal experience, the shoes i bought were based off comfort only... examples:
the first "expensive" shoe i went after was nike ...after several weeks of practicing and hundreds of blisters i finally broke into them...from then on they were fine, unless i didnt play in them for as little as a week or so...then blisters again...to hell with those shoes

adidas was next - $200 - i loved those shoes. they never gave me blisters and running in them was comfortable even on concrete.

keep in mind i played a long time without these expensive shoes...and my performance didnt increase at all with them on- BUT i do believe ones performance can increase in he/she is comfortable - ie, jersey, shorts, shoes, socks, etc...

i have never had a bad experience with an Adidas shoe

6. No. I think it may help your feet feel better but your playing ability is all on how your skills are and the dedication you have in practicing. Big companies try to say that these shoes will heighten your playing abilities but really it all comes down to if you can play all the shoes can do is support or not support your arches or some other sort of health and joint related thing. A person that cannot will only be wasting money buying an expensive shoe if they thing it will make them play better. Personally I think anyone that buys a shoe shouldn't look at its price or maker just how it fits you.

7. a shoe is only as good as the player
yes it has a little bit of physiological effect on the player
which slightly may improve the form of the player but that is negligible.

8. um a twenty dollar shoe wont have as much support in the arch, heel, and ankle areas. this could lead to injuries in your achilles, knee, calfs etc....a 200 dollar shoe is a little extreme but it could be built as a better supporter for your feet. it really comes down to what fits you right and feels right to you. good luck man.

9. well to a certain extent a more expensive boot is usually lighter, thinner, has better studs and are more flexible. it's not going to make you a better player but it will make it easier to feel the ball at your feet or give you better traction. personally i never spent more than $80 for a boot and there is a difference but it will not make you a better player (and yes boots are way overpriced, if you notice when the new editions come out the old ones go down even $100 in price)

10. no, if you know how to play soccer you can play with any shoes...the expensive ones last longer and are better looking to impress the ladies

11. they sure can. you dont have to go $200. but $20 boots will be generic, flimsy and more prone to giving you injuries. whereas new dearer boots will have more support and better technology in them. my new boots this season have actually made my shots a bit stronger. and they keep me on my toes.

12. Yes buying expensive shoe does make you play better. I been playing for 3 year in the soccer league and i would always buy those crappy 30-50 dls shoe and i would be stumbling or sliding since their traction isn't that well. I final decided to buy this cool Joma shoe and i preform way better. My shots are more accurate, i don't slip as much and they look cool since there white with gold strips.

13. it doesn't make a difference in how good of a player you are but mabe in how you will play. If the shoe isn't right for you it can cause your feet to hurt a lot or get blisters.

14. No it wont make any difference.

15. NO! But please do make sure that they are tied and tight. I'm goalie and my shoe has flown off before. I have Adidas for $54.99 & they suite me just fine. But then again I'm only goalie and I don't run all around the field, whatever feels right to you will be just fine. I play indoor soccer so my shoes are terf.

16. it is dependant on the player, i hae had 50$ shoes, and 150$ shoes, i personally didn't like either, and i wear a 90$ pair of boots, its alll aout comfort cuz if yer foot feels aqward in the boot u wont play to the best your ability.

17. no but great advertising has fooled the masses once again
