Why is soccer the most popular sport in the world?

Not to offend any soccer fans, but I've played a fair bit of soccer and watched soccer games on TV, and I find both extremely boring. How did soccer become the world's most popular sport?

2. i like soccer and i dont find it boring BUT i will say that it is the most popular sport in the world because all you need is a ball to play and a lot of nations dont have access to alot of other sports like
Americanfootball,Basketball,Golf,Swimming,Tennis,because of econimic problems

3. Because it's watched and played more than any other sport. Simple statistics here...Now after that that every person that like it, has their own reason.

It also has a lot of history in many countries because of the easy access to a ball shaped object and a couple wooden post, Unlike many other sports that have been around for a much shorter period of time do to more requirements. So due to this sport being around for so long in so many countries and it being so easy to play and gather the necessary items to play; it has become the most popular sport in the world.

7. To become a world class footballer (to give the sport its correct name), you need skill, balance, stamina, strength, and timing, all in spades. Some players add speed, aggression, and a cool head to that list.

Now, how many top class basketball/baseball/NFL players can say they have even a few of those attributes?

I wish the USA would stay out of football. That way they won't try to introduce stupid shite like time outs and tv commercials every time the ball goes out of play.

8. because it is the easiest sport to play. I mean all you really need is a ball and you can use anything for goals...also it has a simple object to get the ball in the opposing teams net. you don't need to get all fancy to be a pro player just need to be skilled with the basics.
