I am a junior in high school and really want to become a surgeoun but I also want to stay in my hometown in New Hampshire.
-I get fair grades when I do not apply myself (usually a low A, high B average) but when I do work my ass off I get great grades, (usually mid ranged A's)
-I'm a 4 year varsity lacrosse player and am also captain of the team (we've won 3 state champsionships in the last 3 years)
-Im in the Grill Club at my school (where we learn to prepare meats and master the art of grilling)
-Im vice president of the Venture Crew at my school (like boy scouts but not gay and also Coed)
-Im the president of the Lacrosse Club
-Im also signing up for the Youth Environmental Service Club
-I'm a camp counselor (i dont know if that will help my chances of getting in but im not sure)
-I have less than 40 hours of community service logged, which i know isnt too great but ill be working on that.

Do i have a chance of getting into Dartmouth? I mean, I feel like I've achieved a big role in leadership. which is what a school like Dartmouth is looking for, right?

1. Dude.. YES!
Colleges LOVE students that get involved! If you can maintain a good GPA (around 3.5) while being involved as much as you are, I'm sure you can get into Dartmouth. Just know that after your first semester in college, everything you did in high school no longer matters. Just something to keep in mind. That's why I've been trying to find clubs and organizations on campus that would look good on my resume. For some weird reason, Fraternities and Sororities look REALLY good on job applications so I suggest looking into those your first semester of college. But as far as everything you're doing now, I'm sure you'll get accepted and have nothing to worry about. Good luck with your last two years of high school!

2. Dartmouth is very competitive and we don't know enough about your SATs (or ACTs), SAT Subject Tests, the rigor of your courses (APs? What about those tests?), etc. I suggest you read/get the book "A Is For Admission" written by a Dartmouth grad who worked for a time in Admissions there. Very informative re: how admissions departments at top schools view applicants.
