I want to get into UCLA?

I am a freshman going into sophmore year. I got a 3.8 gpa both semesters and next year i will be taking journalsim, MEHAP, and ALG 2 Honors along with all the normal classes. THis summer I was a coach at a soccer camp that helped out at risk youth and i also volunteered at the YMCA. I also read to at risk youth and am a tutor for younger kids. Me and my sister are also looking to set up our own organization to help out in Darfur. On top of this i am on the 10th best team in California for soccer and have been selected to state level for the Olympic Devolopment Program which is a prgram for highlevel players that includes 4 levels-district, state, reagional, and national if i keep this up will i get into ucla thanks

are you stupid ucla accepts more than 3 people a year

1. ucla only accepts about 3 ppl a year. ask yourself... are you good enough??

2. it sounds like a good plan but noone on here can tell you whether you 'will get into ucla' for sure or not. great candidates are rejected from the school for no good reason, so you doing everything you can to look good on paper is great, but no guarentees can be made. thousands of students apply every year, and many of them are also great candidates, so you can only do the best you can, and i strongly suggest you also apply to several other schools so you dont end up sitting around for a year with nothing to do.

3. Keep up with the volunteer work, but make sure you get A's and a good SAT score. Your personal statement better be good, too.

4. Your extra curriculars sound great! Just remember to keep up your grades and take as many AP and honors courses you can, while earning good grades in those too. Also good test scores are important in the application process, so prepare for those and do your best.

I think you'll have a good shot at UCLA, but it's tough to know what UCLA will look for when you apply. Sometimes the reject top students who had perfect grades and outstanding extra curriculars while accepting people who didn't have high grades and didn't participate in as many activities. It's hard to know why the colleges do that. Keep that in mind.

5. You are doing very well in the extracurriculars department. UCLA is a little more academically oriented in general, so having excellent grades and test scores is essential.

Continue to take challenging courses in school and balance your extracurriculars and school work carefully. Take a few community college courses each summer (courses in the a-g subject areas that are UC-transferable; the grades are weighted and you receive college credits without having to take AP exams) to help boost your GPA and to show UCLA you are motivated to take that extra step to achieve academically.

Try the PSAT and PLAN in your sophomore year to see which test you excel in before deciding if you should take the SAT or ACT with Writing Assessment.

Don't burn out, sophomore and junior grades (as well as summer courses) are used to calculate your UC GPA and a slip-up can be costly.
